Review: Sally Hansen Salon Effects

This will be the first in a few posts about the products I received from my latest Beauty Voxbox! I guess I should start by saying that I had originally tried some knockoffs when the Salon effects really started becoming a trend on Youtube and makeup beauty boards. At the time, I couldn't understand why anyone would pay $9.99 when the $1 ones from the Dollar Store weren't good at all...well, I'm here to tell you I was wrong.

If you've never heard of the Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips, they, according to their website, have no dry time, last up to 10 days, remove with nail polish remover and come in over 40 styles. More product info here!

I got a free set in "Frock Star" from Influenster that has completely changed my mind: an over the top glitter (see pic of my hand!) and have a few things going on this weekend (including my friend's graduation party from Law School) so I put them on tonight. It took me about 20 minutes, following the directions, which is about the same as a normal DIY manicure for me. They came out pretty good I think! Since it's a bit more spendy than just buying a normal nail polish (since it only lasts 1 application), I would save this for special occasions or when you want a particularly unique design. It also is great for glittery nailpolishes as it doesn't feel gritty. Leave me in the comments if you've tried these!

Advantages: unique designs, no dry time, thorough directions
Disadvantages: harder to fix if misapplied, no real time savings
Tips: Thumbs last! (you'll need it to peel off the stickies!) and make sure to swipe nailpolish remover before you do it! these are both in the well-written directions, but wanted to emphasize it

Note: I received this product for free from Influenster for testing and review purposes, but this is 100% my own opinion.
