One of the biggest tradeoffs in beauty can be heavy foundation vs skincare. Studio Gear's Hydrating CC Cream aims to both provide full coverage while improving your skin. I was interested to try this product out and was happy to partner with Studio Gear Cosmetics and BrandBacker in exchange for a press sample (sponsored).
Studio Gear CC Cream in Linen
The claims of the Studio Gear Hydrating CC Cream are that it will "prevent fine lines and wrinkles with collagen-building ingredients, restores skin elasticity by promoting moisture retention" and "brighten and illuminate the skin with a non-oily complete coverage application". It can be used alone, under foundation, or over moisturizer and is sold for $34 at Dillard's and on the Studio Gear website (see below for discount code!).
Dot of Studio Gear CC Cream out of the Tube
When I first dotted this out of the tube and spread it, my first reaction to my shade (Linen-the lightest shade of three) was that it was too yellow-toned for my pale, cool skin. After a few minutes though, the color sinks and blends in more with my skin, leaving only a faint yellow tint. The Studio Gear CC cream also left my skin noticeably smooth and hydrated. It also is completely scentless, despite an SPF of 20.
Spread out on my skin
On my face, it feels like nothing on as there's no grease or oil. I also appreciated that the formula was great for my sensitive skin: no breakouts! Still, I recommend a patch test so you can be sure before applying all over. It only takes one bad breakout (I'm looking at you, Almay Matchmaker...) before you know the importance of a patch test.
The only downside to this product is the coverage level. I found it is light to medium for a normal amount of product. Still, I think this could be a great moisturizer that provides some coverage for those "no makeup makeup" days and a tint underneath a heavier foundation.
Overall, I definitely will be incorporating this product into my routine, underneath my Tarte primer, as I feel this is better for my skin. 4/5 stars
