Sunday night wrap-up

Reading: Just finished "Waiter Rant: Thanks for the Tip-Confessions of a Cynical Waiter" and I honestly was pretty disappointed. Described as a mix between "Office Space" and "Kitchen Confidential", I expected tales of crazy customers and staff. Instead, the anecdotes are short, unmemorable, and (most importantly) not that funny. To give you an idea, "customers wanting to sit at other tables" is mentioned in at least 5 chapters as an outrageous incident.

It's basically an exploration of the author's life. He talks about his struggle to get his book deal (for the book you are reading...). Since I never followed his blog to start with, it was hard to see these tangents as anything but filler. Like in Orange is the New Black, characters are described for a page to never be mentioned again. You hear about 3 waiters a handful of times, but they never seem more than literary foils to the 'perfectly imperfect' narrator.

Listening: Nobody's Side -as sung by Elaine Paige for Chess the Musical has been playing nonstop.  If you are a fan of ABBA, check out this song from the same creators. I first heard of Chess after Idina's performance with Josh Groban in May 2008 (Royal Albert Hall). While Idina's version isn't bad, I got to hand it to Elaine Paige for her rendition. Nobody's Side is crazy catchy and makes me want to see Chess immediately.

NYC Lavender Cupcake
Loving: NYC 257: Lavender Cupcakes (about $2) is my go-to so far this summer. It's a great pastel shade and the formula covers well in 2 coats. My only caution would be to use the color up relatively quickly (don't save it!). Some of my latest NYC polishes have dried up in a little under a year.

Shopping: If you have a few items on your wishlist itching to be ordered this week, Sephora has a great free mini as the sample. With a $25 purchase, you can get a Too Faced Melted Long Wear Lipstick in Peony, NARS Lip Gloss in Priscilla, or the Sephora Collection Lip Balm in Unique Pink.

Personally, I am going to refrain as nothing has really caught my eye in Sephora lately. I am thinking my next purchase will be an indie! Any suggestions?
